Kollam Rural DPC Sri. KB Ravi IPS, inaugurated the district
exhibition of self defense training program for women and children at NSS Arts
College Kottarakkara, on 04.04.2022. District police chief also distributed the
certificates to women and children who had successfully completed self-defense
training. Sri. Ashok Kumar R, DySP, Crime Branch and District Nodal Officer,
Women Security presided over the function. So far 28000 women and children have
been trained under this scheme in Kollam Rural District. The project provides
training in self-defense for women and children from violence. The most
up-to-date training lessons are provided through this program.
The main features of the scheme are:
Empower women through comprehensive
awareness and practical training program.
Tips for building confidence to transition
from victim to better behaviour.
Awareness of the legal aspects of crimes
against women .
Awareness of police facilities to ensure
the safety of women.
Simple defensive strategies to deal with
various threats such as bag snatching, chain snatching, sexual assault, eve
teasing, bus / metro threats, lift attacks, ATM attacks, and domestic violence.
Awareness of the nature of attacks and
aggressors and how to deal with a dangerous situation.
